The Stone Place Story

Beginning in 1883 and extending well into the 20th century, the Boston Rubber Shoe Company facility in Melrose produced boots, shoes and other footwear suitable for the stormy wet Massachusetts winters. The Melrose factory is being transformed into Alta Stone Place, a gorgeous new community of studio, one, two and three bedroom apartment homes. Alta Stone Place is within easy walking distance to the Oak Grove Station on the MBTA Orange subway line, which arrives in downtown Boston in 12 minutes.
